“Mirrors” Homage to Andrey Tarkovsky

The idea of the project is to introduce our audience to new music mostly composed by Evelina Petrova and Mikhail Alperin, that is inspired by Russian folk tunes and stories, and pays tribute to Soviet-Russian director Andrey Tarkovsky.

Our intention is to create a performance from a birds-eye perspective, where our own imagination inspired by Andrey Tarkovsky and Russian folk tradition will meet the contemporary mind. Films of Tarkovsky are not just a reflection of reality, but rather a poem or a dream. The dramaturgy we are creating one long set reminiscent of his movies which makes a journey between reality, symbols and sounds.

History of the project

This project started in Italy and was divided into two parts: a performance at the tunnels in Bonassola (Italy) which houses great acoustics so the very special, almost mystical mood was achieved without any preparation, the mood similar to Tarkovsky’s films. The performance was also motivated by other sounds deriving from the surrounding nature and the echoes from people’s voices. The other part was a concert in a beautiful and historic church (Oratorio di San Rocco, Levanto) where we combined all the ideas.

In May 2015 we presented this project in Gjovik “Resonans” program.

In addition, the Oslo Art Trio has been invited to perform at the Kampen Jazz.  «Mirrors» recorded in Rainbow studio, Oslo at 2016.
