We met at Parma festival and my first performance with Roberto Dani took place shortly after that and right there! One year later composer and pianist Mikhail (Misha) Alperin joined us and the Oslo Art Trio was born. The name was echoing with the legendary Moscow Art Trio of which Misha was a founder and the creative source.

Still as a duo, our musical orienteers were determined — original compositions closely crossed with the dramatic and musical meaning of folk music. And soon after, now in Trio format, our borders were expanded towards European academic music and jazz improvisation. As the result the multimedia project “Mirrors” inspired by the work of the famous Russian film director Andrey Tarkovsky came to existence. The soundtrack was recorded in 2016 at the Rainbow Studio but unfortunately hasn’t been produced.

In 2018 Misha Alperin passed away — a huge loss for the entire music world and irreparable loss for the Trio. But years of collaboration, the feeling of gratitude and joy of making music together gave us the strength and inspiration to continue as Oslo Art Duo preserving and further deepening our creative ideas and music on this album is a result of that. Our special guest on this album is a brilliant musician, all-time member of Moscow Art Trio and Misha’s friend Arkady Shilkloper. His invitation was almost inevitable as the inimitable sound of his French horn became a signature for many Alperin’s projects.
